It’s Been Crazy- Life Rant
IT’S BEEN A CRAZY FEW MONTHS. We took a trip down south, moved, and life has changed significantly since 2022 started. I want to say that we’re in a better place than we were. This is blog #7, July 21st, 2022.
I’m currently listening to Music to Put You into a Better Mood.
WE GOT SICK
WE CAUGHT COVID. It was only a few days after my last post about hating people that my wife came home from work not feeling well. She was tired, coughing, exhausted, and unable to get out of bed. She called into work, and I teased she should get a Covid test. We had one delivered to our apartment.
She was positive.
And only a day later, I woke up sweating, with fever, coughing, and unable to move my body. It felt like lead was poured into my arms and legs. All I could do was sleep. My wife and I stayed in bed. It wasn’t easy.
The following day, my kids started coughing and couldn’t get up. They were burning up and super tired.
We were all positive. It was insane. My chest was tight. My wife lost her sense of smell, and my babies were too tired to do anything. We pretty much just slept and rested the whole time.
I spent my birthday sick. It was a Covid birthday! We were all under the weather, felt terrible, and I’m pretty sure we didn’t look that great either. Thankfully, my parents dropped off some food, balloons, and a cake. Despite being sick, it was a good birthday. I spent it with the love of my life and my beautiful babies.
MY WIFE GOT SOME BAD NEWS. We rode the Covid wave for two weeks and finally started recovering. Luckily had no lingering side effects, and we got better quickly. But it was only a day later that my wife got terrible news from her family: her brother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and didn’t have long to live. A month a the least, a few months at best. She was devastated and spent the whole night crying in my arms.
We were scared. We couldn’t afford to visit him. But my wife wanted to see him. Visit him. Talk to him one last time, just in case.
My wife was desperate. But we had the apartment, bills, and rent to deal with. We planned to save up, but we were afraid it would be too late when we had enough money to visit. We weren’t sure what to do.
WE DECIDED TO MOVE IN WITH MY PARENTS. I contacted my parents and asked them if it was all right if we moved in with them for a while. It was a step I did not want to take. I love my parents. They’re amazing, and they are always there when we need them. But we don’t get along all the time, we have different points of view, and sometimes we get under each other’s skin.
But it was to be a temporary move. Just so we didn’t have to worry about the apartment or bills, which would free up our finances to go down and visit my wife’s brother. We could focus on traveling to visit my wife’s brother.
My parents agreed.
WE VISITED LA
WE TRAVELED TO LA. We put our thirty days in to our landlord and started the slow effort of packing. Then at the beginning of March 2022, just a few weeks after getting over Covid, we packed our car up and headed down to LA.
We stayed with my brother and his girlfriend while we were there for the week.
We had a chance to meet up with my wife’s brother, sister, and sister’s husband. It was nice to see them; it was the first time my kids met my wife’s side of the family, and it was a lovely time.
Her brother looked good. Tired and a little skinnier than I remember, but it had been years. It was good to see him, and he looked like he was doing all right. We’re still hoping and praying for his recovery <3
It was an enjoyable week, despite the circumstances. We visited a few places in town, celebrated my brother’s birthday, and ate at a fantastic restaurant. And it was awesome to hang out with my brother, too <3
WE MOVED OUT OF OUR APARTMENT. It was a long week visiting our brothers, but there was still so much to do. Over the next few weeks, we packed everything up, cleaned the apartment, and got it ready to move out.
My youngest brother, youngest sibling, and dad helped move our stuff out to storage. The crappy neighbors were outside, of course, as we moved out. That was annoying. So glad to have left that nonsense behind.
The move took a lot longer than I thought it would. Utterly exhausting. And there was so much to clean up before we were ready to close the doors for good and return the keys. But we did it. A chapter of our lives was done, nonsense was behind us, and we were stepping into a new beginning.
And by the start of April 2022, we were fully moved out.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
MY WIFE GOT A NEW JOB. Not too long after we moved, my wife got another job. A better job. One where she can work and not have to deal with customers. She’s happier, has more time to work on art and projects, and we’re slowly saving up to move out.
A LOT HAPPENED. It was a whirlwind of changes in a short amount of time, but we made it through. I was so tired. I’m still tired. I don’t think I’ve fully caught up and rested since then. It’s July, and I’m still anxious and exhausted. But that’s where we are at the moment.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for reading! I’ll be back with another entry soon. Stay creative, keep pushing forward, and I hope you continue to find inspiration. Till next time, please take care, God bless, and you rock! Bye~!
